A recent survey conducted by the AAA found that popularity of electric cars is trending upwards. With infrastructure and availability all here, Alabama can lead the charge toward electric vehicles.

$40 Million Diesel Emission Reduction Program Funds Now Available

Request for Proposals Now Open

Deadline for proposals: Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. ET 

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is excited to announce the availability of approximately $40 million in Diesel Emission Reduction Program (DERA) funds to support projects aimed at reducing emissions from the nation's existing fleet of older diesel engines. Under this competition, between 20 and 80 awards are anticipated to be made to eligible applicants.

Eligible applicants include regional, state, local or tribal agencies, or port authorities, with jurisdiction over transportation or air quality. Nonprofit organizations may apply if they provide pollution reduction or educational services to diesel fleet owners or have, as their principal purpose, the promotion of transportation or air quality.

FY 2018 Budget Agreement Increases Funds for Key Clean Transportation Programs

 

On Friday the President signed the FY 2018 omnibus appropriations bill, which funds the government for the remainder of the current fiscal year.  The bill increases funding for two key programs that support alternative fuels and vehicles: the Department of Energy (DOE) Clean Cities program and the U.S. EPA Diesel Emissions Reduction Grants.
